How to Install Earthstone Worktop Upstands
Earthstone worktops have a realistic stone design that makes them suitable for a variety of kitchen styles. To complete your kitchen, Earthstone worktop upstands are fantastic for a sleek, cohesive look. Installation is quick and easy, but to help you fully understand how to do it, we have put together this guide.
Earthstone worktops can expand after installation -to allow for this expansion, a 3mm gap should be left between the wall and the countertop. As well as providing a beautiful, coordinated look, an Earthstone upstand will also conceal this small gap.
The Earthstone upstands that we offer measure between 1.8m and 3m in length and are 100mm high and 13mm deep. They have all been made from the same non-porous acrylic as the worktops and are resistant to mould, mildew and bacterial growth, making them an excellent alternative to tiles.
Installing Earthstone Worktop Upstands
- Measure the length of the worktop where your upstand is to be fitted, then cut it to the appropriate size. To ensure the finish is clean, precise and professional, it is important that you use a sharp cutting tool.
- Once cut to the correct size, flip the upstand over and apply a water-resistant silicone to the back and along the top of the worktop where it will be positioned.
- Position the upstand and firmly press it against the wall.
- Once in place, wipe off any excess silicone.
Please note: Earthstone worktop upstands should not be attached to the worktop. Rather attach them to the wall. This prevents splitting or warping of the upstand by allowing the worktop to expand or contract. Silicone is applied along the top side of the worktop, adjacent to the wall, for a sleek, professional finish and to prevent unhygienic gaps between the worktop and upstand.
