Oiling your wooden worktop is an essential part of worktop maintenance: It creates a water-resistant barrier and helps prevent bowing or splitting. We recommend Osmo TopOil as it has superior coverage compared to traditional Danish oils and the food-safe formula features a breathable, micro-porous finish that resists cracking, peeling, or flaking.
Osmo’s clear matt finish oil accentuates the wood's grain and natural features, delivering a warm and rich aesthetic without adding a glossy sheen.
Using this product:
- Worktops should be dry, dust-free and sanded to a maximum 150 grit.
- Apply two coats for optimal coverage.
- Allow 8-10 hours between coats.
- For exposed end grain, like sink cutouts, a third coat is suggested for added durability.
- We recommend purchasing 500ml of Osmo oil per 3 linear metres of worktop.
- Recoating is required once water is no longer beading on your worktops, generally, this will be between 1-3 years.

Please note: Freshly oiled wooden surfaces typically require 2-3 weeks to fully cure and properly harden before they can be used normally.
