How do I fit wood worktops in an irregular shaped kitchen? Question of the Week 28.06.14

‘How do I fit wood worktops in an irregular shaped kitchen?’
Our third ‘Question of the Week’ comes from Alexis in Swindon, Wiltshire who’s curious about what fabrication services we offer to cater for an irregular shaped kitchen.
QUESTION:
“I’m after a worktop to go in my kitchen, but there’s some uneven walls and various pipework and other things protruding from the kitchen wall that would obstruct a straight worktop, can you help?”
ANSWER:
Hi Alexis,
Thanks for getting in touch! Not everyone’s kitchen is a clean square box that makes fitting a kitchen worktops a doddle – there are plenty of unusual shaped kitchens out there with interior features to account for.
Fortunately, wood worktops are by far the easiest type of worktop to make adjustments to; they can be cut, shaped and sanded to whatever your requirements.
We also offer a fabrication service, so we can take the effort out of getting your solid wood worktop just right. With our top-of-the-line CNC equipment, we can make cut-outs to cater for any pipes or other objects that might be sticking out from your kitchen wall. Our fabrication team can work with you to make your worktop ready for fitting as soon as you receive it – if the rest of your kitchen is ready, that is!
If your wall is not entirely straight, then you might also want to consider our matching solid wood upstands to go with your worktop. They affix to the wall, and allow for a gap between the wall and worktop to be covered up. This should not only help aesthetically in your scenario, but this gap will also allow the worktop to expand and contract with the changes in temperature. For a bit more info on our fabrication service, have a read through our ‘7 Reasons to Choose Our Fabrication Service’ information guide.
All the best,
Ben @ Worktop Express
