Our final ‘Question of the Week’ this February comes from Sandra in Uxbridge, who is about to have some solid wood worktop surfaces fabricated by our in-house team, and is considering hotrod grooves but wants to know more about the hotrods we provide.QUESTION: “I have submitted my diagram for some fabricated oak worktops this week, and am having hotrod grooves included next to my hob cut-out. I wanted to know what material the hotrods you provide are made from, and whether they are heatproof.” ANSWER:

Our hotrod groves are cut specifically to match either our diamond or linear formations of stainless steel hotrods, available on our website for £20 and £30 respectively.
The idea of these hotrods is to have a safe area of your worktop where you can rest hot pots and pans without having to sit them directly on your worktop, or use an unsightly protective heat mat. Because they are crafted from solid stainless steel, they radiate the heat effectively and prevent scorching of the wooden worktops underneath.
The choice of material means they are completely heatproof and withstand temperatures much higher than your cooking will ever reach. Additionally, the hotrods are totally removable for cleaning, meaning they are incredibly hygienic.
Diamond hotrod formations are perfect for resting pots, whilst our linear formation is suited to either pots or pans. If you do a lot of cooking and have the worktop depth, consider two sets of linear hotrods to allow you plenty of space on which to rest any hot cookware.
