Please do call if you have an urgent enquiry as we may just be able to accommodate your request.

All worktops will be fully sealed with oil on the top and bottom sides, as well as the edges and end grain. We now utilise HABiol, an industrial-grade oil, throughout our pre-oiling service; this is a product that is specially-formulated for use in automated machines such as ours and as such requires fewer coats to achieve a strong and resistant finish. This treatment is also beneficial in that it prepares the worktops for future maintenance with our recommended aftercare oil, Rustins Danish Oil (these products are compatible).
Our pre-oiling service is mandatory when any other bespoke fabrication options are requested. As such, your worktops will arrive in optimum condition and ready for installation. Please note that you must apply a coat of oil to your worktops immediately after installation (and three coats to any newly-cut edges), however: for this purpose we recommend that a Rustins Maintenance Kit is purchased with your order.
Priced per metre and includes material costs.
If you would like your kitchen worktops cut to size, we are pleased to offer a cutting service that can cater to your exact specifications. Our professional service can cut both the width and the length of your work surface, to achieve the precise dimensions required (in mm). The cut edge will also be refinished.
We use the highest quality Homag saw to ensure an accurate and perpendicular cut, and we also service our machine blades weekly to allow for consistent repeat cutting.
Prices above are for first cut and charged at the discounted rate for multiple cuts.
We offer a variety of different edge profiles that will allow you to customise the finish to perfection.
In our opinion, worktops complete with an edge profile do have a more "finished" appearance, although it is also popular to keep solid wood worktops square edged to create a chunky finish. As a general rule of thumb, an edge profile will create a smoother and more hardwearing edge, making the wood worktop less prone to damage from surface knocks or impact.
Edge-profiling should be considered if you opt for any ellipse ends or radius corners.
Our pencil top edge is the most popular option.
Priced per linear metre.
Here at Worktop Express, we can professionally rout apertures for any size of Belfast sink.
We use bespoke templates to ensure an accurate cut, in order to accommodate any size of sink.
We will also profile the inside top edge of the worktop to allow for adequate drainage, unless requested otherwise.
Belfast sinks are a beautiful feature for any traditional kitchen.
Priced per cut-out.
Standard, overmounted sink apertures can be cut to your exact requirements.
Simply supply the aperture dimensions and we will rout accordingly.
We do recommend that at least 100mm is left from the end of the worktop to the start of the aperture, for stability and durability purposes.
Priced per cut-out.
We can create cut-outs for undermounted sinks with the utmost precision, thanks to the innovative wood-cutting technology used in our Gloucestershire-based workshop.
Using the measurements you provide, we create bespoke templates to guarantee an accurate cut, tailored to suit undermounted sinks of any dimensions.
Unless requested otherwise, we profile the top edge of the cut-out to allow for adequate water drainage, and to better protect the edge against damage from impact.
Priced per cut-out.
Apertures for built-in hobs can be routed to any size, so that we can provide cut-out for hobs from a wide variety of brands.
We will also cut the inside corners square if required.
We highly recommend leaving a 100mm gap between the edge of the cut-out and the end of the worktop, to ensure that the strength and stability of the worktop is not compromised.
Priced per cut-out.
Every kitchen is unique, and our irregular cutout service accommodates this.
Whether you require cutouts for lights, electrical sockets, extractor fans or extruding walls / beams, our fabrication team are able to cut to exact dimensions.
Applies to cuts under 400mm.
Applies to cuts 400mm and over.
A diagonal cut from any two points on a work surface, tapered cuts can be used for a multitude of reasons.
Ideal for an unusually shaped kitchen, these cuts could also be used to create a striking feature in your kitchen - perhaps as part of a breakfast bar, peninsula or island.
Priced per cut-out.
We are able to cut tap holes to any supplied size.
Standard tap hole diameter is 35mm, please be sure to check the diameter required before we commence fabrication as several different sizes are available on the market.
We always cut slightly larger than required to allow for natural contraction / expansion.
Priced per tap hole.
Ellipsed end worktops create a practical yet elegant surface, useful for informal meals or entertaining. The beauty of solid wood surfaces is that they can be cut and shaped to any imaginable size to create a wonderful feature.
Apply an ellipse end to breakfast bars, tabletops, islands or simply the freestanding end of a unit to create a functional area. We can rout an ellipse to any size radius.
Priced per ellipse.
Curved units are becoming increasingly popular and we offer a radius corner cutting service to accommodate this. Wooden kitchen worktops can be cut to precisely match any kitchen doors with radius corners, creating an even, smooth, streamlined finish.
We can cut to standard supplied manufacturer's radii, or bespoke sizes if required. Radius corners can also be added to the end of a row of units to provide a softer, safe finish, especially when young children are a concern.
Priced per radius corner.
Drainage grooves are the perfect finishing touch for your worktop, exuding a sense of sophistication that can only be achieved with solid surfaces.
Drainage grooves are not only a functional addition but a wonderful feature. As such we have recently expanded our range to include two stylish new options: fan and fountain drainage grooves. Each drainer groove type is applied in sets of six (please note that there is no difference in the breadth that the three different groove sets cover: the contrast between the three designs is merely stylistic).
Our drainage grooves are tapered to allow for natural drainage.
It is highly recommended to choose at least one set of drainage grooves when opting for an undermounted or Belfast sink.
Standard drainer groove length is 450mm, although we can accommodate longer / shorter lengths if required.
Price for one set of six.
Price for two sets of six.
Solid wood kitchen worktops should only be joined with a standard butt joint. Mitre and 45° joints should not be used.
Our fabrication team will rout three apertures for worktop connector bolts to the underside of both worktops.
Once the worktops arrive on site, you will simply have to bolt the worktops together by tightening three worktop connector bolts (supplied).
We recommend inserting a worktop sealant between the worktops when joining to create a water-resistant seal.
Priced per join (Includes fixings).
Stainless steel hotrods create an elegant yet practical pan stand.
Our fabrication team will rout apertures in a choice of formations: either in a 'diamond' or 'linear' shape, ready for the installation of a stainless steel hotrod set (supplied).
The hotrods can be left to sit in the recess, allowing easy cleaning, alternatively you can fix the hotrods in place with a sealant or adhesive if preferred.
'Diamond' hotrod set (includes 5 stainless steel hotrods: 2 x 100mm, 2 x 200mm, 1 x 300mm).
'Linear' hotrod set (includes 5 x 300mm stainless steel hotrods).
Alternatively if you would like a bespoke hotrod formation, please contact us for a quote.
End caps should be used when installing wooden worktops adjacent to freestanding ovens (Rangemaster, Aga, Rayburn etc).
End caps are created by cutting a worktop across the width, and then joining the offcut to the end of the worktop in question. This conceals the end grain, preventing this section from drying out and splitting over time as a result of prolonged exposure to excessive heat.
Worktop end caps also portray a "finished" look and are sometime requested purely as a feature.
Standard end cap width is 40mm and full stave end cap width is 90mm, although bespoke sizes can also be created if required.
Both standard and full stave priced per end cap.
Both standard and full stave priced per end cap.
If you would like to incorporate one of our standalone WEX Wireless Worktop Chargers into your wooden worktop to create an invisible charging solution, please select this option.
Our team will cut an 80mm diameter recess into the underside of the worktop into which one of our wireless charging units snugly fits. Should you wish, we can also brand the top of the worktop, so that you know the exact location on which to sit your device in order to charge.
We recommend that the inlay for the WEX Wireless Worktop Charger is positioned at least 25mm in from the edges of the worktop to retain the structural integrity of the timber.
The 'Wireless Charger' price includes the WEX Wireless Charger unit, which is available for purchase as a standalone item on the WEX Wireless Charger page. The wireless charger and recess can also be added to your order when purchasing by telephone or email - simply mention it to one of our sales advisors when you get in touch.
Worktop moisture barriers should be used for kitchens that incorporate undermounted appliances that emit large amounts of heat such as dishwashers, washing machines and fridges.
Moisture barriers are sections of specialist foil that are applied to the underside of the worktop directly above the appliance.
We recommend that moisture barriers are applied on site, using heat reflective tape or a suitable adhesive.
Although not part of our fabrication service as such, we highly recommend that upstands are fitted to wooden worktops.
Solid wood upstands have a variety of benefits such as concealing the expansion gap, easing the fitting of worktop to out-of-square walls, as well as providing a seamless finish.
Upstands are available in all matching species in 3M X 80mm X 18mm sizes, please view the relevant timber page and the upstands are visible just below the list of worktop sizes.
Bespoke upstands are available, please contact us to discuss your requirements.
Priced per 3M length (Dependent on species).
Worktop Express can create oversize bespoke worktops that are ideal for kitchen islands and other situations where an extra-wide surface is required.
Our skilled team are able to fabricate oversize worktops (that can't be fulfilled with our standard range of sizes) in a range of hardwood timbers which can then be delivered by our very own 2Man service.
If you would like to purchase oversized wooden worktops, please visit our made to measure worktops page.
Any offcuts larger than 80mm in either length or width can be included with a fabricated worktop order.
Offcuts are included in the fabrication diagram that is emailed to you after placing your bespoke worktop order. If you do not require the offcuts, you can opt to omit them from the delivery. You can also request to have larger offcuts cut and profiled into solid wood chopping boards to match your worktop, or cut into a shelf.
We do not stock any off cuts, as any excess wood is cut into smaller pieces for chopping boards or samples. Anything unsuitable for this purpose is used to fuel our biomass heating systems, as part of our company goal to produce zero waste in our workshops.
If you are unable to find the size you need in our wooden worktop selection, our table tops, shelving and wooden chopping boards offer alternative shapes and sizes that may be more suited to your requirements.
