Laminate Bathroom Worktop Construction

Our laminate bathroom worktops measure 2 metres in length and are 28mm thick – dimensions which are more suited to a bathroom than our regular range of laminate worktops.

To create these bathroom laminate worktops, a section of moisture-resistant fibreboard is covered with a decorative laminate overlay; this is then sealed tightly with pressure and heat to create a hygienic, hard-wearing and impact-resistant finish that protects against moisture ingress. To give additional water resistance, a foil impregnated with resin is fixed to the underside of each worktop, whilst a rebate with a polyurethane resin in-fill acts as an extra moisture barrier.

All of our laminate worktops are made in the UK, and have a smooth 6mm post-form edge profile, which means they have a smooth profile on the top of the front edge.

Cover Cabinets with Our Bathroom Worktops

If you are looking for a suitable surface to fix on top of your kitchen storage cabinets, consider one of our laminate bathroom worktops, which have the perfect proportions for use on bathroom cabinets. Of course, you may want to cut the surface to a shorter length, which is relatively easy to do at the point of installation. An edging strip is included to re-finish the ends of each bathroom worktop once it has been cut to size. If you would prefer, the team behind our laminate worktop customisation service can cut the surface to size and make custom holes for water pipes and drainage if you plan on mounting a sink on the surface.

Attaching these worktops to a cabinet is easy using our slotted angled brackets. These brackets allow you to screw the worktops directly onto the cabinets below, providing a sturdy and secure finish.

In certain instances, you may wish to simply screw straight through the top panel of the cabinet and into the underside of the laminate worktops. If doing so, we recommend using a washer and an oversized hole in the cabinet to ensure that the surface has a little space to expand and contract with changes in environmental conditions.

Aftercare

Taking care of our laminate bathroom worktops is very easy, with only a few steps needed to ensure that your worktops remain in the best possible condition.

Mop up any spillages immediately; though the material is highly water resistant, this action will help to prevent staining. For general cleaning, warm soapy water and a soft cloth will suffice. It is best to avoid abrasive chemicals and scourers.
