How to Repair a Chip in Laminate Kitchen Work Surfaces: A Worktop Express® Nutshell Guide
How to repair a chip in your laminate worktop
- You will need to source a laminate repair paste that is the best match for your worktop. Brands such as ColorFill offer a variety of colours and specific styles. Ensure that the product you select is suited to the type of laminate worktop you have, such as high-gloss or textured.
- Clean the damaged area to make sure it is free from dust, dirt and grease.
- Carefully fill the chip in using the matching laminate worktop filler and a steel spatula. Pull the spatula firmly over the surface to ensure that the product has been pressed securely into the hole.
- Remove any excess with the spatula.
- Use a soft, damp cloth to clean the surrounding area.
- Leave for 24 hours to allow the filler to set.
Replace rather than Repair
If your worktop is badly damaged, it may be more cost-effective to replace the surface rather than attempt to repair it. Our range of laminate worktops start at just £60 and are available immediately from stock with delivery via our own 2Man teams.
We also offer a full bespoke laminate worktop cutting service which allows us to customise your worktop to match an existing surface. Our cutting service includes the option for creating hob or sink cut-outs, application of edging strip and creation of a mason’s mitre joint to join two or more worktops together.
And finally… If you have further questions about the care and maintenance of laminate worktops, why not read our Laminate Worktops Aftercare guide? Alternatively, please contact us and we will be happy to help with any queries.

I have a chip in my worktop and I’ve been looking at colorfill colours but I’m really struggling to find the right colour for my worktop. My worktop looks like the one you have on the website the oak effect one. The closest colourfill color was the colmar oak but I’m unsure if this is the right choice.. but I couldn’t find one for oak effect although on the brochure they say they have like 400 options.. Any suggestions? I would really appreciate some advise here. Thank you
Hello Andreea,
You’re in luck as we have recently launched a line of ColorFill sealants that will be ideal! Our Oak Block laminate worktop is colour matched with ‘Linear Oak Effect’ ColorFill and our Colmar Oak worktop is matched to ‘Medium Bridge Oak’ ColorFill.
You can find our ColorFill options here: https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/worktop-accessories/unika-colorfill
If you require any additional help, please do not hesitate to contact us.
Kind regards,

I have burnt the surface of my work top with a hot pan. It has blistered and now cracked. What is it best way to repair it.
Hi,
I have cut a hole in my worktop by accident and would like to know what the closest colorfill colour would be to the photo at the top of this page.
(The pine type laminate with a succulent on top of the worktop)
I’m sure it would be the same as the above.
Thanks,
Harry
Hello,
For burnt laminate, we recommend removing the affected area with a sharp scalpel blade and repairing in the same way as a chip. Take a look at our Laminate Repair guide and refer to the section about burn marks. https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/information_guides/laminate-kitchen-worktop-repair-nutshell-guide/
Many thanks,

Hi Harry,
The worktop in the picture is an old one of ours, but has a similar look to our Beech Block laminate worktops https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/laminate-worktops/beech-laminate-worktops If these look similar to your damaged worktop, then the correct ColorFill would be Block Beech CF009 which you can buy here https://www.worktop-express.co.uk/worktop-accessories/unika-colorfill-block-beech
Many thanks,
