Buying Kitchen Worktops can seem like something of a minefield. With an abundance of materials, sizes, finishes, customisations and accessories to choose from, you may be wondering where to begin! Gloucester Showroom

1. Materials

Wooden Worktops:

We have been selling solid wood worktops since Worktop Express was launched in 2009. Our key area of expertise, our wooden work surfaces are made from the highest-quality timber (and all from sustainable sources).

Wooden worktops are a popular choice for kitchens, providing a warm and inviting surface infused with natural character.

This type of worktop requires oiling every three to six months to keep it looking its best and – should any accidental damage occur – is easy to sand back and repair.

Our wooden worktops are available in a huge variety of timber species. All are incredibly hard-wearing, and we recommend browsing our website to find the look that is best suited to your kitchen design and personal taste.

Wooden work surfaces can be purchased in a choice of three stave configurations: standard (40mm wide staves), Deluxe (90mm wide staves) and full stave (90mm wide planks that run the full length of the work surface).

Laminate Worktops:

We launched our range of low-maintenance laminate worktops in the summer of 2016 and sales have continued to rocket. This style of worktop is available in a wide range of finishes and styles, making it easier to find a design that is well-suited to your interior design scheme.

A variety of finishes can be found within our growing collection of laminate kitchen worktops, including standard (semi-gloss), gloss, and textured (matt). You will find a variety of designs on our website, ranging from natural-looking styles – like our wood-effect and slate-effect worktops – to contemporary high-gloss surfaces like our sparkle-infused Andromeda range.

We are also pleased to provide a range of AEON™ worktops. These enhanced-performance laminate worktops are premium quality and are made using the very latest techniques to create a surface that has three to five times the resistance to scratches, wear, and scuffs when compared to the industry standard.

All of our laminate worktops are made with PEFC-approved chipboard and many have been awarded FIRA Gold certification for product excellence.

The lengths of our laminate worktops are available between 3000mm and 4100mm, with a width of 600mm and a thickness of 38mm. Furthermore, we are also pleased to provide a breakfast bar option for our laminate surfaces, which measure 900mm wide and feature two post-formed edges.

We offer a professional cutting service for both wood and laminate worktops, allowing you to order ‘cut to size’ kitchen worktops that have been cut down to match your supplied dimensions. Our skilled fabrication team can also provide certain wooden worktops in larger dimensions: up to 6000mm in length; 1200mm wide; and up to 60mm thick, exactly to your specifications. Please get in touch if you would like to discuss your requirements for custom worktop sizes.

3. Customisations

Our wood worktop cutting service can provide an assortment of customisations for your made-to-measure hardwood worktops, so it’s worth spending some time considering what your new kitchen will require before you get in touch.
