Our solid black oak shelves are produced from high-quality, sustainably-sourced timber, and are extremely hard-wearing. Just like our standard solid oak, this timber guarantees natural character and a charming grain pattern; however, it also undergoes a unique treatment process that maintains the innate qualities of the wood whilst darkening it to a deep, opulent shade. Durable and resilient, with a stunning sleek surface, black oak shelves are a spectacular addition to any kitchen or office.
Manufactured in Europe, these luxurious floating shelves are then transported to the UK and carefully hand-finished to exacting standards.
All our shelving is available in a range of widths — from 300mm up to 1500mm — and has a standard depth of 200mm. Just like our worktops, our shelves are 40mm thick, guaranteeing strength and sturdiness. All items come with square edges and are sanded to 150 grit smoothness, before being finished with three coats of HABiol Oil, protecting the wood and creating a beautiful surface.
Our shelves are assembled from a number of 40mm staves, each of which is high-pressure bonded and finger-jointed, increasing strength and aesthetic appeal.
To ensure that your purchase is hassle free, each shelf comes pre-drilled, ready to be attached to a suitable wall using specialist 'floating shelf' fixings. All solid black oak shelving is accompanied by the number of brackets required for the length of the shelf: 300mm and 600mm wide shelves require two brackets; 900 and 1200mm wide shelves require three brackets; and 1500mm wide shelves require four brackets. These 'invisible' brackets complete the appearance of the floating shelves, helping to provide additional storage space and create an uncluttered and impressive appearance.
Solid black oak is a fairly heavy material by nature; therefore we advise that shelves are mounted onto either brick or concrete walls if possible. However, if you do decide to mount your shelving onto a stud partition wall, please ensure that the position of the brackets directly corresponds with the studs.
The premium look of our dark wood floating shelves is unsurpassed by softwood or veneer imitations. By being carefully constructed using superior- quality raw materials, these shelves guarantee enduring strength, durability and character. It is worth noting — however - that timber is a natural product and as such small knots and splits can occasionally be present. Though uncommon, this is considered a natural development in the wood that does not affect its structural integrity.
