How to Install Breakfast Bar Legs to Kitchen Worksurfaces

Whether as a feature or an extension of the existing surfaces throughout your kitchen, our wide choice of worktops can be used to create a highly functional breakfast bar.

If you are looking for legs to support a breakfast bar or any other overhanging kitchen worksurfaces, then do consider our range of breakfast bar legs. These legs are available in full stave oak and are designed to support any worktop that protrudes over the edge of your kitchen cabinets by more than 300mm.

For larger breakfast bars, we would recommend that one breakfast bar leg is used for every metre of unsupported worktop; this is to make sure that the weight of the surface is evenly distributed and does not put strain on the rest of the surface.

Attaching Wooden Legs to Kitchen Worktops

If you have a traditional-styled kitchen or would prefer legs to match hardwood worktops, our range of wooden breakfast bar legs may be better suited. Choose from a sanded oak breakfast bar leg that can be finished with a treatment of your choosing or a pre-oiled oak breakfast bar leg.

These legs measure 870mm tall, which we believe is the perfect height for standard breakfast bars, but – as they are solid hardwood – they can be cut to size easily if needed. Our wooden breakfast bar legs do not come with any brackets or mountings, allowing you to affix them appropriately to suit your kitchen theme.

For most situations, we would recommend using four large angled brackets with slotted holes that will allow the leg to move as the worktop expands and contracts with environmental temperature changes. The brackets should be attached to both the breakfast bar leg and the worktop using screws of an appropriate length – too short and they may not hold securely, too long and they may affect the top surface of the worktop.

Each of the Worktop Express showrooms features a kitchen with a breakfast bar that will help you to envisage how one may look in your kitchen. Why not visit us today to get more inspiration?
