Whether you’re looking for a worktop that matches your lavish new solid wood kitchen cabinets, or simply need a kitchen centrepiece that exudes quality and sophistication, we have a wood worktop for every taste here at Worktops Express®. However, despite all the choice on offer, it’s no surprise that one worktop remains a consistent top seller: Deluxe Oak.

Whilst we also sell full stave and ‘butcher block’ variants of oak, our Deluxe range offers a brilliant combination of the two styles, with a number of staves measuring 90mm wide used to make up the entire length of the worktop. They’re more than twice the width of our standard 40mm staves, so easily show off oak’s beautiful grain and innate character.

Deluxe Oak worktops work beautifully in a variety of kitchen settings – feeling equally at home in both modern and more traditional kitchens.

The oak tree is a worldwide symbol of strength and endurance – qualities that are integral to our oak worktops. It’s no surprise, then, that many countries have chosen the oak as their national tree. Recently the Woodland Trust’s 2014 English Tree of the Year crown was taken by a humungous oak tree in Sherwood Forest, proving that ancient trees such as these are widely regarded as national treasures.

The oak used in our solid wood worktops comes from sustainable, well managed forests in Eastern Europe. Our environmental policies ensure that the timber comes directly from the source, without passing through the hands of any unscrupulous middle-men. This benefit really does show in the finished worktop: we pride ourselves on the strength, natural beauty, and characterful nature of our oak wood worktops.

To find out more about our Deluxe Oak Worktops, please read our All About Deluxe Oak guide, and remember that if you want to see the quality of our timber before you place an order, you can always order worktop samples from us for only £5 including delivery.

Deluxe Oak - November's Worktop of the month

Here at Worktop Express® we’re not only keen on worktops – we also take great pride in supporting local sporting heroes. We back a range of teams and individuals, the full list of which can be found over on our sponsorship page.

As winter creeps up on us, we thought it was a time for a recap on the happenings of some of our sponsees.

Gloucester Rugby – Henry Trinder

Gloucester Rugby – Henry Trinder

After a successful start to the year with a call-up to the International squad, and 5 tries during the 2013-2014 season, Trinder was unfortunately side-lined with a painful shoulder injury at the end of September, which required immediate surgery.

Despite this, Trinder has been keeping active, and supporting the club by other means. He features on the ‘Rugby for Heroes’ 2015 calendar, commemorating 100 years since WW1, the proceeds of which will go towards a number of armed forces charities. It’s available from the GRFC website for just £10.

After 7 games played, Gloucester sit 8th in the AVIVA Premiership table, and whilst many of our staff have been there to support the club in our box above the Mira Showers Stand, we hope to see the team bringing home a few more wins before the year is out.

The Kingsholm Stadium will also play host to a variety of games during the 2015 Rugby World Cup, and on November 15th saw the first friendly international pre-tournament game featuring Tonga vs USA. Tonga romped to victory with a score of 40-12, showing that even though the country may not be a super-power, the Pacific islanders are the ones to look out for in next year’s World Cup.

Frocester Cricket Club

Frocester Cricket Club

It’s been a bumper year for Frocester Cricket Club, and now that the season is well and truly over, they’re owed a huge round of applause: FCC have been crowned Western Premier League champions!

After a thrilling season finale against the city of Bath, Frocester’s team finished the job in style, then followed it up the week after with a win over Gloucester AIW to take the Gloucestershire County Cup! That’s a highly deserved double for Frocester – we can’t wait to see what 2015 holds for them.

Stuart Deacon – Autograss Racing

Stuart Deacon – Autograss Racing

We were there on hand at Deacon’s first race of the season to cheer him on, and despite some early hiccups, his season has seen some great progress: Deacon finished 14th out of 56 in the popular Men’s class 5 after a finale at Javelin Park, between Gloucester and Stroud.

We hope to see some great success from Stuart Deacon next year, once he perfects his new 2014 car’s weight distribution. If you missed it, watch Deacon in action over on the Worktop Express® YouTube channel.

If you’re a local sporting team or individual and are looking for sponsorship, then please do get in touch. We’d love to hear from those looking for mutually beneficial opportunities!

Alternatively, if you want to share the love with our local sporting individuals, pop along to our Facebook page, or mention us in a message on Twitter.

Thanks to advanced machinery and a talented fabrication team, our bespoke cutting service really is second-to-none. We offer everything from simple cuts to bespoke worktop alterations, and many more customisation options in-between.

We recently launched an innovative Online Bespoke Worktop Tool, a device that is exclusive to Worktop Express® and which has been developed by us over the last few years. This exciting online tool makes the process of designing your own custom kitchen worktops much easier, without the need for expensive software or technical drawing abilities. It allows you to add almost any kind of bespoke adjustment to your worktop, and then sends the designs straight off to our fabrication team at Worktop Express® HQ.

To celebrate the launch of this brilliant new service, we’re offering 25% off all fabrications for the rest of the month when ordered online (using the bespoke tool). All you need to do to make the saving is place an order using the tool by midnight on November 30th. The saving will be automatically applied at the checkout, so there’s no need to worry about entering any codes in order to get your discount!

Once your order is submitted, our fabrication team will check it over, upload it to our processing system and send you a fabrication diagram via email within one working day. If we have any queries or happen to discover any potential issues, we will get in touch with you to discuss it further.

After you receive the returned fabrication diagram, take the time to double-check it, then respond via email to confirm that it is correct before we complete the order.

Once we receive your confirmation we will pass it on to our production department to be fabricated, then email you to confirm that work on your bespoke kitchen worktops is underway and when you should expect delivery.

Please note that fabrication ordered via email or over the phone is not included in this promotion.

Deluxe Iroko Wood Worksurfaces – Now on Sale!

We’re spreading that pre-Christmas cheer here at Worktop Express® with some fabulous savings across one of our most popular worktop ranges: Deluxe Iroko worktops.

This African timber is blessed with an array of charms that only get better with age, such as its striking colouring; appearing pale yellow when freshly-cut, iroko gradually darkens to a rich, bronze shade. Our unique ‘Deluxe’ construction – exclusive to Worktop Express® – pairs the magnificent qualities of this wood with a sumptuous construction (featuring 90mm wide solid staves of varying lengths). The result is wonderful showcase of iroko’s inviting colour and attractive figuring.

All wood worksurfaces sold by Worktop Express® have been sustainably-sourced from the most conscientious suppliers – and not only do we insist on all the legal documentation to prove this, but members of our team visit each supplier in person every three months (at least), ensuring that our rigorous environmental policies are met.

As such, if you wish to purchase a Deluxe Iroko worktop this month, you can be sure that you are purchasing only the highest-quality timber in a responsible manner; and, best of all, our discounts mean that you can enjoy whopping savings of up to 10% for the next month.

If you’d like to learn more about our Deluxe Iroko worktops, do take advantage of our fabulous online sample service or peruse our dedicated All About Deluxe Iroko information guide. The sale will run for another four weeks only (until 11th December inclusive), so don’t hesitate to take advantage of it!

The days may be shorter and colder, but our fabrication team have been working as hard as ever to create a huge quantity of beautiful bespoke block wood counters. In fact, over 350 worktops passed through the hands of our team in October, making it a bumper month for the whole team involved. Fortunately this hoard of worktops has given us plenty to choose from when deciding on our top three ‘Fabrication Picks’ – in fact it made the task more difficult than ever! After much deliberation, here’s this month’s finest:

Wenge worktop with irregular cut outs and over-mounted sink cut out.

The unmistakable dark tones of wenge make this unique bespoke worktop one-of-a-kind. Fashioned from a 2m worktop, this piece had a diagonal irregular cut at one end, and an unusual inlet cut at the other. In the centre, a wide cut-out was created to accommodate an over-mounted sink, and as with all of our bespoke fabricated worktops, two coats of Danish oil were applied to ensure the worktop arrives at the customer with a hard-wearing finish.

If you are looking for an opulent centrepiece for your kitchen, then you should definitely consider our wenge worktops. Also available in a sumptuous full stave variant.

Full Stave Black American Walnut

Bespoke full stave black American walnut worktop with irregular cut outs.

This piece of luxurious full stave black American walnut was affectionately referred to as “The Trousers” by our warehouse team – and we’re sure you can see why. Honed from two 2m lengths of black American walnut, seamlessly joined together, this bespoke worktop features a number of 90mm staves that run the full length of the worktop. After joining the worktops together, a rectangular cut was made into the worktop in order to allow it to fit either side of the customer’s partition wall.

Are our full stave black American walnut worktops the perfect choice for your kitchen? If you’re undecided, why not order one of our samples to see the quality of the timber up-close – the cost is just £5 including delivery.

Zebrano worktop with radius corner, under-mounted sink cut out, pencil edge profile and butt joint cut outs.

We do love a lavish piece of zebrano. It’s an unmistakable timber that looks simply outstanding in modern kitchen settings thanks to the unique grain pattern and contrasting dark stripes. This 3m piece of zebrano first had a small radius cut into one corner, followed by a wide cut-out for an under-mounted sink. A pencil edge profile was applied around the entire worktop, accommodating a butt joint at one end.

If your modern kitchen needs a hardwood surface with unmistakable character and flair, then consider our zebrano worktops, which can also be viewed in our Gloucester showroom.
