A Guide to Different Worktop Finishes
Here at Worktop Express, we have a huge selection of laminate surfaces in a range of decors. To enhance the designs, the worktop finishes vary and, in this guide, we explore them in more detail.
High-gloss laminate worktops, including black Andromeda and white sparkle worktops are ideal for adding a little extra glamour to your cooking space. They introduce a reflective quality, giving your kitchen an extra dimension. High gloss worktops are more suited to contemporary designs.

Premium high gloss work surfaces, such as Galaxy Gloss glitter laminate worktops, also offer a smooth, high shine finish. The premium quality of these countertops gives an added layer of sophistication and elegance to a modern kitchen. Combining them with a matt splashback, as in this example, creates a contrast that draws the eye.

Many of our wood effect laminate countertops, for example Colmar Oak and walnut laminate worktop, have a slight gloss finish. This gives the countertops a slight sheen and helps them to resemble a freshly oiled surface. We have a wide range of standard semi-gloss worktops to suit both contemporary and traditional kitchens.
Other standard semi-gloss worktops
Our brushed steel effect laminate worktop is an example of a premium semi-gloss work surface. Providing a perfectly smooth texture, this finish has a subtle lustre resulting in a beautiful aesthetic, in this case, realistic emulation of brushed steel. This premium quality finish adds extra durability to an already robust worksurface.
Calcutta marble effect worktops are an example of our premium smooth finish. Beautiful, realistic and tactile, they are also robust.
Our beech block and black walnut laminate worktops have matt finishes – giving them both a realistic timber effect. This finish perfectly complements the types of wood that the laminate décors so effectively emulate and lend themselves perfectly to so many different kitchen styles.
Worktops with a textured matt finish have no reflective quality at all, allowing them to be utilised perfectly in a contemporary kitchen. In the case of our Luna Nero worktop, this finish gives it a realistic look and feel of natural slate. The surface of a textured matt worktop, has slight raises and indentations which, when combined with the décor, adds to the effect of authentic materials.

With a charming grain pattern of grey oak, this Antique oak worktop has a beautiful extra matt finish. For a worktop that is suited to a contemporary kitchen, our concrete laminate worktops also have an extra matt finish to help achieve that realistic appearance.
Premium Textured Matt
To achieve the realistic effect of copper, copper effect laminate worktops have a premium textured matt finish. This allows them to fit seamlessly into a contemporary kitchen. Another of our countertops to feature this finish is our laminate full stave rustic oak worktop. The advantage here is that a full stave wood grain effect is easily achieved, making it perfect for a traditional kitchen.
