Solid ash is pale in colour, with a wonderful, warm grain that naturally occurs in both straight and rounded formations, and helps to ensure this timber has plenty of character! Sourced from Europe, from organisations with established replanting programmes, solid ash floating shelves are both highly durable in nature and very versatile in style. Ash shelving helps to brighten any kitchen or office, keeping clutter away from work surfaces and creating a light and welcoming look. These shelves are available now with FREE next-day delivery.
Constructed from only the finest-quality raw materials, our genuine ash shelving is immensely durable and attractive, far surpassing any softwood or laminate substitutes. The shelves are made from a series of 40mm staves that are high-pressure glued and finger-jointed: a construction that ensures maximum strength and an attractive appearance. Our Grade A ash shelves are square-edged and sanded to a 150 grit smoothness, making them lovely and sleek. Finally, each shelf is attentively hand-finished by a member of our team, a process that includes the application of 3 coats of HABiol Oil, which enhances the resilience of the wood and adds to the natural beauty of the grain.
Available in a variety of widths, ranging from 300mm to 1500mm, all shelves are 200mm deep and are 40mm thick (just like our solid wood worktops).
Pre-drilled for convenience, the shelves are supplied ready to be mounted to a suitable wall using specialist floating shelf fixings. Each solid ash shelf is accompanied with the appropriate number of brackets for its size, which are: 2 brackets for 300 and 600mm wide shelves; 3 brackets for 900 and 1200mm wide shelves; and 4 brackets for the 1500mm wide variants. These brackets are cleverly hidden to complete the impressive appearance of the floating shelves.
As solid wood is relatively heavy, we suggest that your shelves are mounted onto either brick or concrete walls. In the case of stud walls, we would recommend fixing the supports directly into the studs.
The beauty of real wood shelving does not diminish with age, however - as timber is a natural product - small knots and splits may occasionally occur (which is highly uncommon, but is considered a natural development in the wood).
