Whilst viewing our laminate worktop pages, you may have noticed some certification symbols. Many of the laminate worksurfaces that we supply are FIRA Gold certified – but what exactly does this mean?
FIRA stands for Furniture Industry Research Association and they are an independent third-party organisation who offer a validation scheme for companies who manufacture furniture or kitchen items, or who provide an installation service for these products. FIRA awards FIRA Gold certification to products as recognition of their quality and, in turn, a company can use the mark to inform their customers of their high standards.
FIRA assesses each product by individually testing their performance levels. The results of these tests are then documented and upheld through regular audits, re-testing, and inspections. FIRA assess several factors such as mechanical damage, resistance to wet and dry heat, and chemical resistance. This exposes our laminate worktops to abrasion, impact, scrapes and scratches, a range of temperatures between 55°c – 160°c, oils, acids, bleaches, tea, and coffee.
As a customer, this gives you peace of mind because not only does it show that our products are outstanding, it also proves that they comply with all of the relevant legislation. Furthermore, as FIRA audits are ongoing you can be sure these standards are constantly upheld. FIRA Gold certification is a great indicator of the quality of a product, but you should not take our word for it. We offer two different laminate worktop sample packs that between them contain examples of all of our laminate worktops. Costing just £5 each, they provide a fantastic opportunity to see which style will work best in your kitchen whilst showcasing the quality of these surfaces.
