Make Your Solid Wooden Worktops Look like New in 3 Simple Steps

Keeping your solid wooden worktops looking great after the onslaught of busy day-to-day life difficult task. That’s why now is the perfect time to give your wooden worktops some loving and make them look new again, in just 3 simple steps!

Step one: Keep them clean

For your worktops to look their best, you won’t want unwelcome stains to manifest themselves on your wood worktops.

It’s therefore very important to ensure that you keep your worktop as clean as possible – wiping up stains and grime as regularly as possible.

By keeping your worktop clean, you’ll have to do less additional aftercare, and will risk less unsafe bacteria growth.

Step two: Oil regularly

After cleaning your worktops, a fresh coat of oil will keep your worktops looking pristine, with an attractive sheen.

Although you do have to be careful not to over-oil worktops, we generally suggest oiling once every 3-6 months depending how long the worktops have been in place for.

Our Rustins Worktop Maintenance Kit comes with all the accessories required to keep your worktops looking their best.

Step three: A light sanding

If your worktops have been in situation for more than 3 years, or have not been regularly maintained, you may want to consider lightly sanding the worktop surface in order to bring it back to its best.

After sanding, you will need to then wipe the surface down with a wet cloth, followed by a dry wipe. Next you will need to apply a new coating of oil to ensure the worktop is well protected. For the best method, read our ’How to Sand Solid Wood Worktops’ Nutshell guide.
